Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder says that “smart people” have told him Solana has an “earnest” developer community, bearing this information in mind, he wishes the project gets a fair chance to thrive in the crypto space.
In a tweet on December 30, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed compassion for rival Solana (SOL). According to “smart people,” Solana has an “earnest development community,” he said, and he implied that the project’s prior opportunists had been “washed away.”
Buterin wished for the Solana neighborhood to “have its fair shot to thrive.”
SOL’s price has dropped more than 90% from its high, in part as a result of the coin’s connection to the defunct FTX market. However, Solana engineers contend that the network was unaffected by FTX’s failure.
Many in the crypto Twitter community were pleased by Vitalik’s admiration for Solana. In a Twitter thread, BlockTower Capital’s Ari Paul stated that more cryptocurrency businesses should emulate Vitalik’s example because “This is how someone acts who is delighted to ‘compete’ on merit and thinks in positive sum terms.” One entertaining exam you could administer to anybody (service providers, fund managers, developers, etc.)[…] Positively inquire about the rivalry with them.
However, not everyone agreed with Buterin’s assertion. Mike McDonald, a former poker player, described the comment as “virtue signaling.”
Previously, Solana was referred to as an “Ethereum killer” in part because of its tremendous scalability. However, others have also criticized it for being unreliable and too centralized.
