Casa has announced a new feature that will improve the privacy of its Ethereum users. The ETH pay wallet feature will act as a relay service between users’ Ethereum vaults and the Ethereum blockchain, hiding their on-chain addresses from public view.
Casa is a platform that allows users to securely store and manage their cryptocurrencies without relying on third-party custodians.
Casa offers multi-signature vaults for both Bitcoin and Ethereum, which require up to five private keys to access the funds. This provides a high level of security and control for users and protection from theft, loss, or hacking.
How Casa Enhances Ethereum Privacy
The ETH pay wallet is a new feature Casa has introduced for its Ethereum users. It is an alternative to the existing Casa Relay, which was responsible for facilitating interactions between users’ Ethereum vaults and the Ethereum blockchain.
The Casa Relay enabled users to deploy contracts and send transactions, but it also exposed their Ethereum addresses to blockchain scanning tools.
The ETH pay wallet aims to solve this privacy issue by acting as a middleman between users’ Ethereum vaults and the Ethereum blockchain.
Transactions and gas fees originating from the ETH pay wallet will not be associated with Casa on-chain, making it harder for anyone to link users’ Ethereum addresses to Casa.
The Steps to Use the ETH Pay Wallet
The ETH pay wallet involves some additional steps compared to the Casa Relay. Users need to cover gas fees with their pay wallet, which they can fund with any Ethereum address of their choice.
This gives them more flexibility and privacy, as they can use different addresses for different purposes.
To use the ETH pay wallet, users need to follow these steps:
- Create an ETH pay wallet on Casa and fund it with any Ethereum address.
- Connect their Ethereum vault to their ETH pay wallet on Casa.
- Send transactions from their Ethereum vault through their ETH pay wallet.
The launch of the ETH pay wallet is a significant upgrade for Casa’s Ethereum users, as it offers them more privacy and customization options.
According to Casa CEO Nick Neuman, the feature had been in development even before the launch of Casa’s Ethereum custody vault in June 2023.
He also clarified that the ETH pay wallet would not provide complete anonymity but would remove the connection to Casa on-chain.
The introduction of the ETH pay wallet also shows that Casa is committed to providing innovative solutions for cryptocurrency self-custody.
By using a blockchain-based relay service, Casa can reduce the costs and risks associated with cross-border payments, as well as improve the speed and efficiency of transactions.
