Elon Musk’s X has initiated the sale of deactivated Twitter handles, noting prospective purchasers via email.
X, the social media giant owned by billionaire Elon Musk, has reportedly begun selling unused user handles via email to prospective purchasers. It had been rumored since last year, but it now appears operational, per an earlier agreement signed by Elon Musk. X intends to acquire millions of dollars through the program to reduce operating expenses and contribute to revenue growth.
X Handles For Rolling Out Sales
Forbes reported on November 4 that Elon Musk’s X solicited potential purchasers for abandoned or unused handles or usernames. X has initiated the development of a marketplace to purchase obsolete credentials.
X intends to release dormant handles by selling them to interested parties; some are notified via email and can acquire the handle for a fixed $50,000.
Elon Musk previously verified that up to 1.5 billion usernames will become available “soon.” Once the name transition to X was finalized and Linda Yaccarino was appointed CEO, the platform initiated the process of removing inactive accounts from its website.
As of now, the username registration policy for X is as follows:
“Unfortunately, we cannot release inactive usernames at this time. Please read our inactive account policy for more detailed information.”
Nonetheless, X stated in its “inactive account policy” that users must register every 30 days to prevent their accounts from being deemed inactive and that it was not releasing inactive usernames.
Elon Musk may want to consider purchasing at least one account, according to Forbes: @ handle, which has not published content since 2019.
Musk’s X Everything Application

X is advancing platform features about artificial intelligence with the introduction of chatbot Grok to early evaluators today. Furthermore, he affirmed that none of his organizations will ever develop a cryptocurrency token that facilitates payments with Dogecoin (DOGE).
