Solana Mobile, the creators of the Saga smartphone, is set to launch a new device at a more affordable price point.
The new physical device, which will debut in the first half of 2025, is reportedly less expensive than the original Solana crypto phone, according to the company’s website. For $450, a family may only enter one successor entry per individual.
“Almost overnight, Solana Mobile’s Saga became the most rewarding experience on a phone ever and sold out. You know that story. Now it’s time for the next part of the epic, with our sights set on new horizons and global availability.”
The creators have shown a referral scheme, but they have not yet revealed the design or any additional features. Users can get rewards from the Solana ecosystem by asking their friends to order smartphones.
The new product will also feature the same features as the previous model, which include a decentralized application store, customized Android OS, and an integrated cryptocurrency wallet.
Sales of Saga were momentarily halted by Solana management due to the excitement around the Bonk project coins. All phone owners could claim 30 million BONK at launch.
Mid-December saw a tenfold surge in Saga sales. As a result, the smartphone sold for $5,000 on the secondary market, even though Solana was only charging $600 for it. In less than a week, Solana sold out of every model of smartphone it offered.
Owners of Saga aircraft participated in another airdrop later. This time, the giveaway was organized by the meme coin project Samoyedcoin (SAMO). Free tokens were given to 20,000 people.
