The capitalization of cryptocurrency markets has reached an all-time peak of USD 2 trillion, with Reuters quoting CoinGecko and Blockfolio data and market trackers.
The rise was driven by Bitcoin, a market leading player of 1 trillion USD for a week on 5 April 2021. Last year, Bitcoin was 1.4% up at 59.045 dollars. Analysts said that Bitcoin would maintain its USD 1 trillion market cap, if it stays above USD 53,000.
In terms of its market cap, Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency, was 1.3% up on USD 2.103. On 5 April 2021, its market cap amounted to USD 244 billion. On 2 April 2021 it reached a record level of USD 2,144.99.
Bitcoin grew by over 100% in 2021, while that of Ethereum grew by almost 190%. Both have outpaced traditional asset classes that are supported by the entry into the cryptocurrency world of major companies and major investors, such as Tesla and BNY Mellon.
