Elon Musk responds to the introduction of audio and video features on X as part of the platform’s transformation into an Everything app.
To make X, formerly known as Twitter, an “everything app,” Elon Musk teased users with a post instructing them to enable audio and video features on Twitter.
Since the $44 billion acquisition, Tesla’s CEO is leaving no stone unturned to rebrand Twitter, now known as ‘X.’ In the most recent development, Elon Musk tweeted on October 26: “Early version of video & audio calling on X.”
The image displayed options for enabling voice and audio calls to users’ address book contacts, all verified users, and individuals they “follow” on the service.
X Introduces Voice And Video Calling
The announcement of the new feature generated excitement among users, who responded to the post with memes and comments such as “This is fantastic… ” X is advancing us tremendously; we are now proud of X.” Some users shared screenshots claiming that the feature is currently only accessible to users in the United States.
This is not the first time Tesla and X’s proprietor has teased Twitter users by announcing an audio and video calling feature on X. Musk announced earlier in August 2023 that the X team is working to bring out new features while the platform undergoes a rebranding phase. This new feature will allow users to make audio and video conversations without revealing their phone numbers.
Many X users are anxiously awaiting the rollout of this new feature, which will make X an even more exciting place due to a recent teaser post that generated a buzz amongst them.
Constant Alterations with X
Since the acquisition, X has endured several modifications. This month, X started testing a $1-per-year subscription charge for new web accounts willing to post and interact on this microblogging site.
He said this new “Not a Bot” feature will decrease spam, automated bot accounts, and service manipulation. This feature, which is currently undergoing testing, has been made available to users in New Zealand and the Philippines.
