Landon Cassill’s sponsorship deal with Voyager has made him the first NASCAR driver to be paid solely in cryptocurrency for 19 races.
NASCAR will make history during its race this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway as it’s the first-ever to make this move in the world of sport.
As reported by the Associated Press, Cassill will be paid in Litecoin and other cryptos during the course of 19 races at the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville.
Cassill’s payment will be made by Voyager upon his request. According to Steve Ehrich, Voyager CEO, Landon Cassill has been a crypto investor for a couple of years. They both met at a conference where Cassill pitched his sponsorship idea.
According to Ehrich, “Cassill’s focus and drive on the race track translates across all he does.” Ehrich further mentioned that “Cassill also shares our vision of widespread crypto adoption, and we’re proud to be the first company to secure a primary NASCAR sponsorship completely with crypto.”
According to Cassill’s sponsorship deal, Voyager is to pay him the standard sponsorship rate with the only difference being how the funds are shared.
Payments will be made in the form of digital assets that includes Litecoin and Bitcoin. Cassill further stated that he can trade out the digital assets, as the market experience changes and also pay his bills while holding the rest.
In addition, he said that he is not the only driver in NASCAR that is into crypto but claims that he is the veteran of the group.
Cryptocurrency market and sports have been working hand-in-hand for years but motorsports are quite late to the party, but, the racing world did make a grand entrance.
It was a big debut for Bitcoin at the Indianapolis 500 as Rinus VeeKay’s major support. Seven days later, the racing team was spotted at a Bitcoin conference in Miami.
