Paris Match’s June 17 NFT auction features historic images of celebrities and significant events from its archives.
The auction commenced on June 17 and featured a carefully selected selection of historical images from Paris Match’s archives.
These consist of photos of entertainment luminaries such as John Travolta, Jack Nicholson, Orson Welles, and The Rolling Stones. Images of significant historical events, including the fall of the Berlin Wall, images from Harlem, and the Tour de France, are also included.
A physical print of the same photo, numbered and signed, will be included with each NFT purchase, thereby bridging the divide between traditional art collecting and digital ownership. The starting bid for each photo is 0.3 ETH, which is equivalent to approximately $1,062 at current rates.
After a successful sale of 120 unique NFTs in January 2023, this initiative is Paris Match’s second foray into the NFT sphere. For this auction, the magazine has collaborated with SuperRare and the photo NFT platform Focus Bloc.
In the past 24 hours, the global NFT sales volume has increased by 45% to $19.25 million, as reported by CryptoSlam. Ethereum is the market leader with $7.19 million in sales, followed by Polygon and Bitcoin (BTC).
Ethereum (ETH) is currently trading at $3,492.60, representing a 7% decrease in price over the past month, according to the most recent update.
Paris Match’s decision to auction its iconic photographic archives and adopt NFT technology is indicative of its commitment to preserving its cultural legacy and adapting to the digital era.
