David Baszucki, founder and CEO of Roblox, anticipates that prominent brands and celebrities will assume leadership roles and be instrumental in practicalizing the “dream” of cross-platform NFT.
David Baszucki, leading man of the popular virtual universe game Roblox, has expressed his desire to be able to “dream” of the capability of transferring nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and digital objects across multiple platforms.
In a recent CNBC interview that followed the company’s Q3 2023 earnings call, Baszucki, founder and CEO of Roblox, discussed significant influencers’ role in promoting the widespread adoption of NFTs and digital collectibles.
He advocated for the capability of users to transfer their collections between non-native platforms:
“There’s a bit of a dream here about objects and NFTs moving from platform to platform.”
Baszucki stated, for instance, that A-list celebrities like Elton John could create and sell limited edition collectibles such as capes on Roblox to raise money for charity.
As NFTs, these particular collectibles might be removed from the Roblox marketplace and sold on alternative marketplaces.
“What we do expect is that creators, whether it’s Elton John or Nike or someone else making a digital item, that they would play a key role and have a fair amount of control in that process,” Baszucki concluded.
Roblox posted a loss for the third quarter on its most recent earnings call; nevertheless, the company reported a 20% year-over-year increase in booking estimates due to increased in-game spending and the overall user base.
The increasing market sentiment is consistent with Baszucki’s growing interest in NFTs, as blockchain analytics firm Nansen reported a surge in November NFT sales volumes.
Over the past thirty days, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) exhibited the most substantial trading volume concerning NFT collections.
The volume of the BAYC collection was 35,226 ETH, or approximately $66.7 million.
Moreover, according to data from NFTGo, the number of NFT traders increased by 12% during that period.
