Six new Ethereum wallets have been disabled by Tether, most likely as a result of their connections to the Russia Finiko ponzi scheme.
Blockchain intelligence company ChainArgos claims the wallets may have conducted shady transfers to addresses connected to Finiko. Additionally, no more obvious suspicious transactions were seen coming from these locations.
In 2018, the Russian pyramid scheme Finiko was introduced, resulting in victims losing as much as $95 million. The scammer Edvard Sabirov was apprehended by Interpol in the United Arab Emirates last year.
Nonetheless, several additional con artists remain at large. Tether blacklisted a TRON address as well, although blockchain researchers found no unusual activity coming from that address.
Only one sizable transfer from Bitfinex totaled $7,000 USDT to the wallet. To comply with US regulators, Tether has been closely monitoring wallets connected to illegal activity and cybercrime.
These seven wallets don’t appear to have any clear or substantial connections to large-scale malicious activity. Additionally, the massive stablecoin still needs to issue a remark on this.
