The National Postal Service of Ghana is taking measures to ensure that the blockchain perpetually records the 25th coronation anniversary of its King using a crypto stamp collection.
“Crypto Stamp,” a new stamp collection issued by Ghana Post in tribute to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was unveiled. The crypto stamp collection honors the king’s cultural integrity and 25-year-long contribution to Ghana’s development.
The connection between the physical crypto stamps and unique, blockchain-verifiable nonfungible tokens (NFT) signifies this fusion of traditional values and cutting-edge technology.
The listing indicates a limited 7,200 crypto stamps, each costing $18 (250 Ghanaian cedis).
Upon initiating the purchasing process, the website should have furnished pertinent details concerning the expenses associated with delivery to international locations.
To assert the exclusivity of a physical collectible, purchasers must explicitly link it to its digital twin via the blockchain after its acquisition. The physical stamps include an incorporated near-field communication (NFC) chip to facilitate this pairing.
“Through a simple smartphone scan, collectors can verify the stamp’s authenticity in real-time, with each scan generating a unique, one-time authentication message, safeguarding against tampering and counterfeit attempts.”
The Ghana Post offers the most expensive stamp collection, “Crystal,” while all other stamps cost less than half of what their crypto counterparts cost. The establishment does, nevertheless, carry an exclusive gold frame stamp available for purchase at a cost of approximately $7,200 (100,000 cedis).
With the introduction of a commemorative NFT-based stamp collection, Ghana established itself as the pioneering African nation to do so.
The South African Reserve Bank recently intensified regulatory and adoption initiatives for central bank digital currency (CBDC) and cryptocurrencies.
